Calorex Swimming Pool Heat Pumps

calorex heat pumps

British made swimming pool heat pumps from Calorex

Heat pumps are the most energy efficient way to heat your swimming pool, see below for how they work.

Calorex produce two versions of heat pump, which you choose depends upon how many of the seasons you want to use your Pool.

For summer swimming choose the AM series. These are by far the most popular heat pumps. They work well from May to September giving heat to the water when the temperature is down to 7 deg C

For Spring to Autumn swimming choose the ALY range. They work well from March to November giving heat to the water when the temperature is down to 0 deg C.

The 31AM and 31ALY series was introduced in 2007. Improvements over the old 20 and 30 series include a quieter and more efficient scroll compressor, a titanuim heat exchanger as standard and an internal bypass.

How a heat pump works.

A heat pump is in essence a fridge backwards. By constantly condensing and evaporating gases it draws heat from the air around it and puts it in to the water. The electricity produces no heat, it is only needed to run a compressor. A typical Calorex heat pump draws 2.5 kW of electricity but can put from 9 to 13 kW of heat into the water. This makes it by far the cheapest way to heat water.
